Designing generative AI tools at AI21 Labs
At AI21 Labs, I led product design for the Studio platform — a developer-focused platform built to help teams create and develop with cutting-edge generative AI. I designed experiences that made it easier for enterprises and developers to build LLM-powered apps, agents, and custom workflows.
My focus was on building usable, scalable, and elegant interfaces that brought the power of advanced language models to life. From full product redesigns to launching new features, I worked closely with cross-functional teams to shape the platform’s direction, improve engagement, and ensure consistency across the board.

Bringing AI use cases to life
As part of a broader effort to evolve the AI21 Studio platform, I designed the first iteration of a dynamic AI use case gallery — showcasing practical LLM-powered solutions tailored for different industries and business needs. The goal was to help teams quickly understand what’s possible with AI21’s models, and explore pre-built tools like virtual assistants, copy generators, document summarizers, contextual answers chats, RAG tools and more.
From playground to power tool
One of the most dynamic parts of the Studio was the chat playground — a core space where users and mostly developers, experiment with prompts, test assistant ot agents, and fine-tune generative AI interactions.
I led several iterations of the playground — evolving it from a simple prompt box to a rich, multi-panel workspace with memory, personas, RAG support, agentic features, and advanced controls. Each redesign focused on balancing power and clarity — helping users get started quickly, while offering deeper customization as their needs grew more complex.
I focused on creating an interface that made it easy to label responses, track quality, and iterate quickly — helping internal teams make better decisions and improve models more efficiently.
Designing in the age of AI
Designing for AI is a wild ride — things change daily, models evolve fast, and no one really has all the answers.
At AI21 Labs, I got to explore what good design looks like in this rapidly shifting space: building tools that help people actually use generative AI, not just hear the hype.
From designing experiences around agents, prompts, and custom workflows, to figuring out how to showcase what these powerful models can really do — my focus was on making it all feel simple, usable, and human.
Clean interfaces, thoughtful flows, and an experience that’s accessible and enjoyable, even when what’s under the hood is incredibly complex.
